Conversion Rate Optimization |

Almost every website owner's knows about SEO, but very few actively think about conversion rate optimization (CRO). This is funny because you could get a billion people to visit your website, but poor CRO will keep you from making a cent on them. Don’t worry, there are a few things you can do to improve your conversion. Just follow these helpful tips to make more sales from your website. Know Your DemographicMarketing to kids is very different from marketing to adults. You need to use different keywords, build links from different websites and all of your content and graphics must resonate with your demographic. If you don’t know who you’re marketing towards, then your website is going to look like a jumbled mess. If you want to see some conversions, then understand your demographic and ensure that your website speaks to those people. Get Necessary InformationYou will often need some information from your customers before selling something to them. For example, most businesses need to know the customer’s name, phone number and email address. Unless it is necessary, you shouldn’t be asking for more information like annual income, social security number or their birthday. People are willing to give this information if it is necessary (such as for payday loans), but they will become wary if they are buying something that shouldn’t involve their personal information. For example, would you give your social security number for an ebook? You should never ask people for information that you don’t actually need. Website SpeedPeople expect websites to be fast and responsive. If your website doesn’t load, then your potential customers will spend their money somewhere else. While there are many statistics on this, most people agree that you about 25% of users will leave if your website takes longer than four seconds to load. This increases to about 50% after 10 seconds. There are a lot of things you can do from your end to improve your load speed. Ensure that all of your images are small and optimized, use modules to speed up your website if you're running WordPress or other blogging systems and reduce any unnecessary coding. You should also pick a web host with the fastest loading speeds. Using all of the optimization tips in the world won’t help you if you have a bad web host. Call to ActionThe call to action is one of the most important aspects of CRO, but it’s also the hardest to perfect. Most people lazily write “call now†or “order now†to tell customers what to do. While this is better than doing nothing, it really isn’t that effective when compared to better calls to action. Great calls to action tend to be interactive and use graphics to enhance sales. Instead of telling people to schedule an appointment, use an app or widget that allows them to set their own schedule. Instead of writing, “start your free trial today†in your article, place it on a graphic. Good graphics and inventive features have been shown to improve conversions. Test and RetestYour website might be converting well now, but that doesn’t mean you should get comfortable. Slight changes in your website can dramatically alter your conversion. For example, changing a graphic or moving your text might double your sales. This is why it’s important to keep split testing your website. Split testing allows you to analyze changes to see what your customers respond to. Not only that, but it’s suggested that you change your design (either minor or major changes) at least 2-3 times throughout the year. Websites that remain static are often thought to be dead. If you haven’t had any sales in the last month, then consider making some changes. UpsellThe last tip is to offer upsells. Your customer already intends to buy from you, so now is the best time to offer a different product at a great price. For example, if your customer is buying a custom website design, then it just make sense to offer him or her SEO services. Picks products and services that logically fit together. This will dramatically improve your conversion and the amount of money you make on each customer. Customer While getting customers is important, you must also focus on improving your conversion if you want to see any money. Just make sure to improve your website loading speed, upsell products, split test your website and use effective calls to action. This will help you make more sales online.
